Working alongside the architects and contractors, Hygenius (then WorkSpace Design) supplied the full FF&E package, including a range of bespoke joinery, from a smart panelled reception desk and wall screen to the fitted seating, teapoints and activity walls to keep patients occupied while waiting.
“The level of ability of the Hygenius install gang was outstanding, with installation tolerances easily exceeding those required by British Standards. They were also able to manufacture joinery elements on site – a rare ability in the current age. I will definitely look to work with them again.”Steve Wallford, Senior Project Manager – Kier Construction
The clinic has specialist facilities for outpatients, state-of-the-art soundproofed booths for hearing tests, an eye imaging suite and dispensing opticians, as well as a garden designed with all senses in mind, allowing children to see touch and smell the plants.
“One of our primary objectives in developing the interior design of the GOSH Sight and Sound Centre was to ensure that we created a homely and welcoming environment. Hygenius provided high-quality bespoke joinery that is designed to complement other aspects of the interior design and helps to create the non-clinical look and feel that we had specified.” – Crispin Walkling-Lea (Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust)
The project won the European Healthcare Design Award for projects under 25,000 sqm.
